Stop using the word "customer" and start using "Client".
Why?
Because the word customer implies that they buy things from you. But the word "Client" implies a close relationship in which you help the "client".
It changes the way you see your clients. You will respect them more. After all, your clients are your most valuable assets in your business. Without them you would be up a creek.
Start calling them "Clients" to your employees, to them, in all your letters and communications. Make your employees start using the word client. Clients are people you care about, that help you. Customers are just people who buy from you, who may or may not ever buy again.
